• Wallingford, a quieter, residential neighborhood, is the buffer between the University District and the more corporate area of Fremont.
  • This part of town is made up of mostly smaller apartment buildings and single-family homes. A converted elementary school houses the Wallingford Center, the largest retail spot around.
  • Gas Works Park, a converted industrial area, is now a gigantic waterfront park.  Continuing the theme of reinvention and repurposing, the Good Shepherd Center at the north end of town used to be a boarding school for ladies, but is now home to several community organizations and is run by the Historic Seattle organization.
